Engineering Director

An innovative engineering group has retained Vectis Recruitment to appoint an Engineering Director during a key period of expansion and new product development. Joining at an exciting time of growth, the successful candidate will take full responsibility for leading engineering activities across design, development, and testing within a multi-site organisation. Candidates are sought with a proven track record of setting strategic direction, making critical engineering decisions and developing high functional teams.

The Role

Lead technical operations, including design, R&D, test & validation.

Set technical direction, ensure compliance and lead resolution of technical issues.

Lead the full new product lifecycle from concept to certification and production readiness, including test and validation strategy.

Define and deliver the engineering strategy, balancing current delivery with long-term capability and innovation.

Build and lead a high-performing engineering team.

Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Programme Management and Supply Chain to align engineering with business needs.

Drive improvements and efficiencies across operations.

Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and team collaboration.

The Person

Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role within a high-technology manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and driving change in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

A degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field would be advantageous.

A strong, concise communicator and able to build internal and external relationships with stakeholders and customers.
