Coventry Competitive Contract
Due to new projects, a sector leading manufacturer of specialist vehicles has a new vacancy for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team on a contract basis. Working on a number of new R&D projects you will design innovative packaging solutions for electrical systems and components that form a critical part of the new product design. Candidates are sought with experience in a similar role gained in a highly regulated industry (automotive, aerospace, defence, energy, etc).
The Role
Design and develop electrical enclosures, panels, and packaging.
Produce detailed drawings, BOMs, and documentation for manufacturing.
Work in partnership with electrical and electronics design team to develop new solutions.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards
Support Design for Manufacture reviews to optimise manufacturability and cost.
Work closely with manufacturing to ensure viability of manufacture.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical and mechanical systems.
The Person
Relevant design experience of packaging and modelling of electrical assemblies and components.
Previous experience working in a complex and highly regulated industry (aerospace, automotive, rail, defence, etc).
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Advanced capabilities on Catia V5 or V6 (NX considered)
Strong verbal, written communication skills- including report writing and presentation.
